Flooding Concerns Drive PermaTrak Boardwalk Selection
Built on a low-lying area that was previously used for rice farming, flooding was a main concern for designer Clark Condon Associates at the Bridgeland development in Cypress, TX. Designers were concerned about the rotting and warping that moisture causes on timber boardwalks, so they looked for alternative materials and ultimately selected PermaTrak’s maintenance-free concrete boardwalk system.
Ten PermaTrak concrete boardwalks were installed in the spring and summer of 2016, part of a three-mile walkway designed to wind around portions of Josey Lake, connecting trails and recreational areas for residents. PermaTrak structures include a viewing platform, overlook area, fishing pier, and a walkway with a unique waterfall feature running underneath, and a number of swale crossings.
The boardwalks also provide a high-end aesthetic that adds to the overall look and feel of the park. Each concrete structure adds a unique flair that complements the natural beauty surrounding it, blending seamlessly with the lake and park.
Josey Lake is considered the “crown jewel” of “Houston’s premier master planned community.” PermaTrak is excited and proud to be a part of this project that connects residents to the community’s many amenities and brings them closer to nature.
