Project Profile

Moore Road Park Boardwalk

Challenge

The City of Coppell, TX faced a challenge with Moore Road Park, a popular destination for family exercise and recreation. The previous wooden boardwalk, a foundational amenity for the park, was forced to close due to damage from repeated flooding. To replace the boardwalk, the city also needed a solution where the construction method would minimize the impact on the pond’s sensitive ecosystem and accommodate the existing wildlife.

Solution

Working hand-in-hand with designers from Halff Associates, the City of Coppell’s project team decided to utilize the PermaTrak precast concrete system. The durability of concrete allows for the boardwalk to be overtopped in times of flood without being compromised. In prioritizing long-term stability, Halff and the City of Coppell ensured the boardwalk will be an asset to the community for generations to come. The flexibility of the system, which allows for fewer foundations due to its larger span capabilities, also reduced overall construction costs and accelerated installation.
